M'PANJERE

About M’PANJERE

Etched in African history. Rooted in wisdom. Building a sustainable future through industrial hemp.

In 2019, history was made in Zimbabwe when one of Africa’s first legally cultivated industrial hemp seeds was planted. On that day, M’PANJERE emerged as Africa’s pioneering hemp brand, unveiling a demonstrative suit crafted entirely from industrial hemp.

The moment was profound — held within a prison yard, symbolizing a shift from punishment to rehabilitation. Hemp, once criminalized, was acknowledged as a tool for education, restoration, and economic empowerment.

M’PANJERE means “the one who gives wisdom”. Through fashion, culture, and science, we distinguish industrial hemp from marijuana, using creativity as our canvas and innovation as our megaphone.

Our work reframes narratives — transforming stigma into opportunity. Industrial hemp becomes a soft rehabilitative tool for education, food security, environmental regeneration, and creative empowerment.

In 2020, we secured the first-ever official license to brand industrial hemp fashion and non-narcotic products using the image and likeness of Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti, using his story to educate and redirect attention from abuse to purposeful use.

From indigenous hemp Adire textiles in Abeokuta and Kano to policy engagement and farmer collaboration, M’PANJERE builds bridges between creatives, scientists, artisans, governments, and communities.

We empower creatives, farmers, women, and artisans while remaining fully compliant with national policies and international drug laws — growing African solutions for the green economy.
